"Wait, this works? This phone works? Maleficent's tits, this phone works! Are we sure this isn't Auradon? This is craaaazy, yo!" *Delighted, disbelieving laughter* "Okay, so this is Uma, leave a message!"

It was bitterly cold, but Uma was still wandering along the beach. It was there she did her best thinking, after all, there she felt most at home. She was debating a late night swim - the cold under the sea never bothered her anyway - when something nudged her foot. She glanced down and saw a bottle washed up against the shore. And inside was a slip of paper.

Uma, 'tis Harry, the message read, written on a scrap of dirty paper pilfered from one of the propaganda posters Auradon hung up instead of giving the Isle real help. We don't know where you are, but your crew will hold fast till ye come back to us.

The messy scrawl meant he was writing with his left hand, the right one clenched around his father's hook. She could almost picture it, him sitting in her mother's restaurant, painstakingly forming each letter...

Another bump against her foot. She was unsurprised to see another bottle. She bent over to rescue that one, too. Hey Shrimpy! I know I'm not supposed to call you that, but maybe you'll get so mad, you'll come home just to box my ears and kick me out of the gang again. --Gil.

In the moonlight, more bottled bobbed on the water. She waded out to collect as many as she could find and each one carried a note. Desiree. Gonzo. Another one from Harry. Bonnie. Gil. Jonas. They needed her. They were calling her home.

Friends didn't leave friends on the Isle.

She took a moment to write a note of her own, tucking it into a bottle and hurling it up the beach as far as she could. She had faith the magic of the sea would get it to her roommate.

And then she was gone, diving into the ocean's depths without so much as a ripple.

[And with that, Uma is leaving Fandom to go off to her upcoming canon!]

Octopuses were smart. Devious. Tricky. Even without Uma's actual thoughts behind it, the octopus that Uma had turned into still had a lot in common with the girl she'd been, including a propensity to wander off into other people's rooms and make free with their belongings. It was probably for the best none of the rooms she'd gone exploring into over the past ten or so days had had aquariums for her to plunder, or there would be a lot of sad pet owners with no idea what had happened to their fish.

Today, Uma had escaped the tank that Bobby had made for her and gone exploring, an absurd picture of pink and teal tentacles dragging her down the hall. Feeling vibrations in the floor that signaled someone was walking around nearby, she let herself into a room--and stopped dead.

There was a tank in here! A big one! Much bigger than the one she'd been staying in. And there were things to explore and play with!

It took her a very few minutes to figure out how to gain entrance to the new tank and then she was in, cheerfully swimming and splashing about. This was hers now. She claimed it!

[Room and tank modded with permission!]

Their walls were too bare. Uma had never been surrounded by this little color for so long in her whole life. On an island where each person could be identified by color scheme, being surrounded by neutrals all the time was driving her stir-crazy. So after a quick jaunt through town where she managed to 'acquire' some supplies in ways that it was probably best not to inquire too closely after, Uma came back to the room to start bringing some life and vibrancy to the walls.

She'd leave Bobby's side alone--probably--out of courtesy, but her half was going to be a riot of color by the time she was done. Hefting the bottle of spray paint closest to her signature color, Uma started the outline of a huge sailing ship right over her bed, her face relaxing into a smile as she worked. She could almost hear Harry and Gil bickering, Bonny and Desiree teasing Jonas, Gonzo offering another idea of where to go after the barrier went down...

Don't tell anyone, but Uma might have been a little homesick.

[Open, but the thread with the roomie comes chronologically last.]

Here begins the parade of posts! I am having surgery tomorrow (in the hospital at the ungodly hour of 5!) and I am really not sure how coherent I'm going to be for the week or so following. And so we're going old school today, like it's 2013 up in here and smart phones aren't a common thing yet!

*Uma will be a very pretty teal and pink octopus, with modding rights to the roomie.

*Hyacinthe will be off at the carnival with Ada for a week or so. Look, senioritis hits hard, okay? Modding rights to Ada.

*Kathy will be laying low for the week until she is eaten by a tremens and then will be auditioning for the role of Miss Clinic Patient 2018. Modding rights to the housemates.

*Hardison will be off with the Leverage crew taking down bad guys. His class will be canceled and modding rights to the crew.

*Verity will be hanging out with her cousin Sarah, newly arrived in town, and will possibly be back on the island to bartend for the BDE if I'm actually feeling up to playing. Stranger things have happened, right? Her class will still be canceled, though, sorry.

*Karla will be doing her thing in Glacia, as per usual.

Have a great BDE everybody! Hopefully see you next week!

(...she says like she's not planning on playing the hell out of the next 19 hours. And now we return you to our current spamming of the f-list, already in progress.)

Uma had had enough of this. She'd been pent up all week and unlike back home, she didn't have anyone she could just tag in for a fun few hours. It was all very frustrating and all the fighting and smithing and everything else their classes had focused on this week hadn't really done much to fight it.

But there was one thing that she thought just might. Uma made her way down to the beach, stripping down to a tank top and shorts when she got to just a few feet of the water's edge. She held her clothes down with a rock and slowly waded into the water, ignoring how chilly it was in early April. In a few more minutes, she wouldn't even notice. Once the water got deep enough, she dove under it, grasping onto the seashell necklace she wore around her neck.

The transformation was easier this time and faster, too. The gold light flashed out in less than a minute and instead of human girl swimming through the water there was a--well, Uma wasn't sure what she was. Half-girl, half-squid. All she knew was that she was fast like this, she was strong like this, and there was a whole new world opened up to her to explore.

Take that, sexy feelings.

[Establishy, unless someone wants to meet up with her back on the beach? Or if the kraken wants to tag in I guess, lol. That Uma went swimming is fine, but all mentions of her transformation are NFB, please.]

Taking the true shape of a sea-witch was the most exhilerating experience of Uma's life. Instead of legs, she had tentacles, six of them because of animation constraints on The Little Mermaid, and her body practically hummed with magic. Her mother's necklace glowed with power for the first time in twenty years, free from the shackles of the Isle. Uma was huge, body the size of the cruise ship they were having the cotillion on, and the length of the tentacles made her larger still. She laughed, feeling powerful, feeling invincible, and even Mal's transformation into a dragon couldn't put a damper on her spirits.

Taken from the end of Descendants 2. I didn't write this dialogue. )

It was already morning when Uma finally woke up, washed up on the beach like sea foam. The tide had gone out, leaving her mostly dry and covered with sand. She had no idea where she was, save 'not the Isle of the Lost.' The air was too clean, the sky too clear, the sun too golden to be on the Isle. She must have been washed away to some part of Auradon, but she couldn't figure out which. Somewhere near Cinderella's castle, maybe? Or Aurora's forest? Either way, she couldn't exactly stay here, where there was nothing to eat but sand and nothing to drink but sea water.

She needed food, hungry enough that even Wet Rot or Offal from her mother's specials board sounded good. And water, too, her lips were cracked and salty. A chance to rest and recover would also be nice, but Uma didn't believe in pushing her luck too far. She'd bespelled the King and attacked the whole court on live TV, the first wandering woodcutter to find her would probably call for the guards and have her arrested on sight.

Her best bet was to find some kind of civilization, steal what she needed, and then get out of there and back to her crew. It wasn't the best plan, but it was the only one she had, so...guess it had to do.

With a sigh for the pound of sand that had made its way into her boots already, Uma started walking.

[Establishy! But better late than never?]
